A MEMORIAL GARDEN TO BE LOCATED IN COLERAINE N.IRELAND
Our garden was designed as a gift by Stephen Todd who is also responsible for some of the local sculptures like the Burnside Red Sails
AMOUNT RAISED SO FAR £46,000.00 getting closer to our goal of £60,000
The garden budget is entirely dependent on the quality and type of finishes used to build it. The basic garden is estimated at £30,000 with a bit more patience we might be able to raise enough to use some natural stone paving. Anyone who wishes to tender for the garden's creation can drop me an email for a copy of the drawings & specification.
Thanks to all who've contributed to this fund so far. I hope we can keep this amazing momentum going into 2014 Andrea McAleese

THE IDEAS WITHIN THE GARDEN
Garden designed as a dignified space to remember and reflect on lost lives.
Double circle represents the single cell splitting and becoming two at the formation of life itself. A glass 'fountain of life' has references to the baptism and celebration of a new life arriving. The individual brass stars fixed on the wall are inscribed with each missed child. The rear of the curved wall is sheeted with brushed stainless steel as the "Wall of reflection' - Perhaps people can leave personal notes and poems on this wall.
The angel sculptures are designed to rotate in the wind making the garden kinetic and introducing the sense of wonder children so unselfishly share.
A personal memorial in the form of a brass star with the child's name and age is planned. As children we are told that each star represents a soul in heaven. This idea allows for a dignified and touching reference to the missed loved one.
